Habits of the reader

  • The Test Driving:  Reading the first chapter of more than one book, before settling on what you're going to read next.
  • The Abandoning:  Reading a book that you think sounds totally cool, but end up leaving for greener pastures.
  • The Taste Testing:  Trying your hand at a new genre, simply because it would be cool to be a reader of said genre. (Most popular genre taste test: Fantasy or Sci-Fi)
  • The Secreting:  Starting a classic novel, getting halfway and never finishing it, but still proudly stating that you've read it.
  • The Bookseller:  Recommending a book you didn't like to a reader, simply because you know s/he will probably like it.
  • The Trendsetting:  Reading a book that was popular years before and making it popular again by mentioning it a million times on all the popular internet book places (i.e. YouTube, Tumblr, etc)
  • The Disliking:  Despite your attempts to love a hyped up novel, you just can't do it.
  • The Quiet Suffering:  Being the only one in a group of friends who likes to read and having no one to discuss your book issues with.
  • The Turning:  Getting that strong urge to make anyone into readers.
  • The Buying:  When the people at a bookstore know you by name and your bank account is crying.
